Tonight I'll be liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive in the ballroom along with my two gem-hunting pals Julie and Jackie from Minnesota. Try to spot us in the audience! I'll be wearing a short fuchsia dress and my dumb signature glasses.
We are guests of DWTS creator Conrad Green, who refers to me with gratitude as "creator of the legend of Dancing With the Stars." Ooh, I just got the chills typing that! I think he enjoys the super self-indulgent terms Planet Mirrorballus and Fringe Fairy even more than I do!
A bit of background on Julie and Jackie:
Julie is the illustrious "Jem H" (formerly "Jem Ho") from ye olde EW.com message boards, and Jackie is her good friend and fellow DWTS superfan. We first met in the summer of 2012, when Julie got in touch with me via email to mention she was thinking of attending Dancing With the Stars: Live in Las Vegas, and did I have any plans to cover it?
I didn't! I also usually adopt an "Ewww, strangers" policy when it comes to traveling. But SOMETHING got ahold of me -- the fairy dust within my gem-heart started churning up again even though it was the dead of June -- and I agreed to GO MEET THEM for one night in Vegas to see Our Sparkaliens in a different desert setting!
You can read my review of the show here, and watch our video interviews with Carson Kressley, Trsitan, Lacey Schwimmer, and Joey Fatone here. (Thanks to Jem H for the stunning handheld videography with a flip cam!)
ANYWAY, Julie and Jackie turned out to be harmless and lovely. A bit crazy, too -- this past January they went on one of those Dancing With the Stars cruises without me! Word is they partied with Our Pros at the bar every night after the rest of the clientele fell asleep around 7 p.m.
And now, their DWTS trifecta will be complete, as they'll be my guests at a liiiiiiiiiiiiiive taping.
(I'm sorry to play favorites -- these weirdos were simply the most proactive! You know I love ALL of the gem-hunters and DANCMSTResses equally. I promise.)
I'll add links to my full recap on The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard later on.
